International Medical Relief (IMR) provides both large and small scale comprehensive clinical operations and direct relief to communities worldwide without access to healthcare services, and in times of disaster. Often our patient population includes refugees, indigenous communities and patients with limited or no access to medical care. Doctors and medical staff reach beyond the borders to travel and identify, treat acute conditions and infectious disease cases, provide sustainable education and referrals for chronic diseases, and identify candidates for surgical procedures with appropriate community-based resources.

IMR clinics are composed of both our corps of international medical staff and local providers who partner shoulder-to-shoulder to help deliver sustainable healthcare elevating access to care for our patients. These volunteers are physicians, nurses, dentists, EMTs, and medical and nursing students. IMR has mobilized resources and our first responders to serve countries with impactful medical aid saving and changing lives. IMR\u2019s goal is to continue to serve long term around the world meeting the greatest healthcare needs of communities.<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Provider to Patient Health Education:<\/h4>

All across the world patients look to physicians for guidance – we use and harness that knowledge and trust to build health literacy and invite the patient to be a partner in their own health. IMR views every patient encounter on our medical missions as an opportunity to further the patient’s knowledge and education on health matters related to their personal health needs. IMR collaborates with local providers and partners to ensure that the community is gaining the most beneficial health education. At the end of every patient-provider interaction, the provider ensures a complete understanding of the patient care plan. Providers perform this training in a \u201cSee one, Do one, Train one\u201d philosophy. Educating communities allow for locals to become more empowered by their own health, as well as for the health of other community members. This model allows for both teaching and learning from both the provider and the patient to grow the health capacities of communities to help influence a better tomorrow. This education philosophy increases IMR\u2019s goal of Sustainable Community Health Education.<\/p>

Our clinics provide a comprehensive pharmacy that offers both adult and pediatric prescription medicines as well as over-the-counter medicines to complement the diagnosis of our advanced practice medical teams and provide much-needed treatment for these cases, often saving lives.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Sustainable Community Health Education<\/h3>

In order to achieve IMR\u2019s mission to provide Sustainable Community Health Education, IMR collaborates with team leaders, local experts, and global health partners to conduct a needs-based assessment plan. During mission trips, IMR conducts community health training classes that are based off of the leading health indicators from Healthy People 2020 Goals and in collaboration with strategic plans from the Ministry of Health of that specific country. Sustainable Community Health Education empowers the local population and allows a lasting impact.
